How did you decide on what approach you would take with Product Management and the Procurement Function?

Coming from an operations back ground I knew that I would have a lot to learn and would have to step out of my comfort zone in order to achieve my goal of being a highly competent and reliable member of the Procurement team. I listen a lot, constantly make notes, reflect and sense check ideas or data before sharing or making a decision.

Was there anything that didn’t work out as you had hoped?

I completely underestimated the workload. Before joining the procurement team I did not fully appreciate how much of an impact the procurement team has on the business.

My biggest achievements so far are designing and organising company promotions from the ground up. This entails a lot of designing and planning work which in turn has helped me develop a lot of new skills, Aswell as liaise with many notable people within the EMS and BPW organisations.

What can EMS achieve and what do you think we need to do to get there?

EMS can be the market leader of the Truck, Trailer and workshop equipment within the UK. The key areas I believe we should work on to get there are:

Continue to produce regular promotions, this in turn will help cement our brand in the UK as a market leader selling Premium Aftermarket and OE products, coupled with providing a best in class service.

Enhance our online presence, in this day and age it is imperative to have a strong online presence as purchasing trends are constantly changing and we need to be on the front foot.

Continue to work closely with key suppliers. In this ever growing and competitive market it is extremely important to have strong relationships with our suppliers to ensure we receive the best terms possible, as well as service.

Advance furthermore our current work environment / culture and staff training programme.
